Before Isro sends humans on the Gaganyaan, a female humanoid — a robot —named ‘Vyommitra’ will be sent as part of the first human spaceflight programme scheduled for later this year. The purpose of sending a humanoid before sending humans is not just to display Isro’s capabilities but to also extensively utilise the first unmanned flight opportunities extensively.
