]]>Pant affirmed his status as a match winner in the white-ball format with his maiden ODI hundred against England in the third ODI of the recently concluded series. He is yet to find his rhythm in the T20Is.
As for Karthik, he earned a recall to the Indian squad after a very successful IPL season for Royal Challengers Bangalore. Karthik also performed well in the South Africa T20Is to justify his place in the team.
Ponting has worked closely with Rishabh Pant at Delhi Capitals and is well aware of his strengths, while the former Australia captain thinks veteran all-rounder Dinesh Karthik must also fill a spot in India’s middle-order.
“We have seen what Rishabh is capable of in 50-over cricket and I know absolutely what he is capable of in the T20 game,” Ponting said on the latest episode of The ICC Review.

New Zealand top the table with 126 rating points, while England are second with 122 rating points.

]]>Mahendra Singh Dhoni is celebrating his 41st birthday today. Social media is flooding with wishes for the legendary cricketer who is widely acknowledged as one of the finest captains in the history of the game.
Dhoni celebrates his birthday in grand fashion with friends and family in UK with his wife Sakshi Singh sharing a clip of smiling Thala cutting the cake. Interestingly, India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant also attended the party.
Dhoni and his Sakshi are in UK where the pair recently celebrated their 12th wedding anniversary as well. They got married on July 4, 2010.
Having made his debut for India in 2004, Dhoni went on have a storied career where he not only excelled as a batter and a wicketkeeper but also won plaudits for his intelligent cricketing brain as he became the first and only captain to win all three major ICC trophies including T20 World Cup, ODI World Cup and Champions Trophy.
He represented India in 90 Tests, 350 ODIs and 98 T20Is. Known for making stunning decisions, Dhoni’s retirement from the game came in a similar fashion.

]]>India and England are all set to lock horns in three T20Is and as many ODIs from Thursday, July 7 to Sunday, July 17.
Both teams have already named their respective squads to be captained by Jos Buttler and Rohit Sharma.
Buttler has a massive task ahead of him after replacing Eoin Morgan as the skipper of the Three Lions. Morgan retired from international cricket after the ODI series against the Netherlands. Buttler also led in the third ODI against the Dutch team after Morgan missed the match due to groin stiffness.
The series is also a chance for right-hander Harry Brook to show that he well and truly belongs at the highest level. Brook captained the England U19 team in the 2018 World Cup in New Zealand and recently, was excellent while playing for the Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
As far as India are concerned, Rohit Sharma made a comeback after he missed the fifth Test due to issues related to Covid-19. Former national skipper Virat Kohli won’t be playing in the first T20I and will return for the last two matches of the series.
Arshdeep Singh has earned his maiden ODI call-up after his impressive performances in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Umran Malik will also be looking to make a mark after performing reasonably well in the T20I series against Andrew Balbirnie’s Ireland
